REAPER does not have pre-roll/count-in recording so if a musician plays something just before the measure there is no way to recover that without starting the actual recording early. This is a problem if you want to record right behind an already existing audio item.
A work around that is to use time selection auto-punch because if you start your "recording" one measure before the part you want to record, you automatically have "pre roll before recording", it only starts to record at the time selection AND you can drag the created media item to the left a few ms, recovering these "early" sounds.
Problem - the recording stops at the end of the time selection.
Is there a way to NOT halt the recording or maybe a workaround?
