Leeds Conservatoire

Applications for Leeds Conservatoire Degrees are made through UCAS in most cases.

All applicants must demonstrate their strengths in their chosen specialism – methods we use to assess this include auditions, interview and portfolios. We’ve prepared handy course by course guides for prospective international students

Apply for Classical and Jazz

Visit UCAS and register your details for a Conservatoires application. You can then apply by entering the relevant institution code and course codes.

For Classical and Jazz, the institution code for Leeds Conservatoire is L31 and the course codes are:

Apply for Acting, Actor Musician and Musical Theatre

Visit UCAS and register your details for an Undergraduate application. You can then apply by entering the relevant institution code and course codes.

For degrees in Acting, Actor Musician and Musical Theatre the institution code for Leeds Conservatoire is L30 and the course codes are:

Apply for Music Business, Music Production, Film, Folk, Roots and Blues, Popular and Songwriting

2. Your Offer

When: After your audition/interview/portfolio

If you receive an offer it will either be conditional, based on you subsequently meeting academic, English and/or musical requirements, or unconditional.

Accept Your Offer (Classical and Jazz)

Go to your UCAS Conservatoires application to accept your offer. If it’s unconditional the place is yours! If it’s conditional then it’s yours when you meet our entry requirements.

Accept Your Offer (All other courses)

Go to your UCAS Undergraduate application to accept your offer. If it’s unconditional the place is yours! If it’s conditional then it’s yours when you meet our entry requirements.

3. Student (previously Tier 4) Visa

When: July (or earlier)

CAS, which you need to get your Visa.

You should allow enough time to complete your visa application – a lot of documentation is required and the process cannot be rushed

Accreditation of prior learning (APL)

Applicants who have undertaken learning which has been formally assessed and certified by another educational institution or training provider, as well as applicants who have gained formal recognition of learning through other experience (e.g. in-house training programmes that are not externally assessed), may be able to use this towards their study at Leeds College of Music either to satisfy entry requirements or to join the programme at a later stage. The following document provides further information on the conservatoire’s APL application procedure.

There are two ways to make a Postgraduate application to Leeds Conservatoire:

Route 1: UCAS Conservatoires

Note: If you have already started a UCAS Conservatoires application for any institution, this is your only route.

If you are applying via UCAS Conservatoires, you will need the following codes:

Alternatively you can apply directly to Leeds Conservatoire via our Postgraduate Direct Application Form.

Note: If you have already started a UCAS Conservatoires application for any institution, you must apply through UCAS Conservatoires and cannot use the Direct Application Form.

Leeds Conservatoire occasionally auditions applicants overseas.

Request an Overseas Audition Day at Your School (School Staff)

Staff at overseas schools are also welcome to request an audition on their premises – we usually conduct a few auditions directly at schools per year.

For more information please email international@lcm.ac.uk. The registration process will vary depending on the event.

Attending In-Country Auditions

If you register to attend an audition in your country then instead of applying through UCAS, you will be given an in-country application form, which you must complete either before your audition or no later than one day afterwards.

Our in-country application form is simple and easy to complete. It is not available to download as it is an online form.

Audition Process - About Online Submission

Applicants to certain courses at Leeds Conservatoire will need to audition, interview or submit a portfolio of work. Most international applicants submit audition, interview and portfolio materials online. Your materials will be assessed by our curriculum teams.

Leeds Conservatoire occasionally holds auditions overseas. These may be open, or delivered exclusively through a school or other organisation – our In your Country page will give details of our overseas auditions if they become available.
